I stood at the side of the road waiting for the bus. Such brokenness was reflected in their eyes as vehicles drove past me. Strife filled their hearts as the voice of their broken soul tells them over and over again of the incident and the people that have hurt them. A strifeful and broken soul vanguards their existence. Every nook and corner posed an existential threat.
A developed nation of much diverse cultural heritage - what a beautiful sight! Yet this is not a cause of joy but unforeseen misery that rattles bones. The first people of the land were devastated by the unutterable evil that befalls them like a cloud of dark smokes from a burning forest. Their homeland of centuries in a blink of an eye made them aliens treading the very dust that was once too familiar to them.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
This is the law from the foundation of the world. Sin brings DEATH. What is sin will always be a sin. It does not matter if it is wrapped in gift papers. Sin is sin and DEATH will be the wages. Death is upon this generation because of sin. Death brings strife and brokenness. Death causes one to hurt another. Death causes indifference toward others. Death leaves no place for peace in the soul. Death causes strife in the soul. Death brings strife to families, relationships, husband and wife, parents and children, co-workers, the churches, organizations and many countless others.
Death ushers in sickness and disease. Countless diseases and illnesses have no cure. Are we on the verge of a catastrophic pandemic that will wipe out many men, women, and children?
Be clear that the WAGES of sin is death. When you work, you receive money as your wages. When you sin, you receive DEATH as your wages. Sin brings no rest to the soul and is tasked to bring utter ruin to the soul, and all that is around the soul be it relationships, family, health, or work.

"Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me." Romans 7:20
Sin by any other name is still sin. However it is packaged, sin is still sin. The mission of sin is to destroy your life. Once you have a good job, loving wife, beautiful children, friendship, and in the pink of health will in a blink of the eye make you an alien walking the very dust of a familiar but broken family, relationships, job, failing health and most of all a strifeful and broken soul.

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7
You will reap what you sow - a divine law that will stay true for every living person walking the face of this earth. If you sow an apple seed, you will reap apples. If you sow avocado seeds, you will reap avocado fruits. When you sow a seed of sin you will reap fruits of Death.

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12
In life, you will be hurt by people and some of these people are your family members, friends, co-workers and even churchgoers. God place before you "His Grace" for you to forgive them. God also place before you, "your will" to be angry and carry your anger to whenever and where ever. You can even keep the anger in your soul just as a reminder that there are others who will want to hurt you when they get the chance and hence, watch out. It is better to be strifeful and broken than to be hurt by others again. Is it?
The recipe of cynicism, hurt, brokenness and strife make a profoundly bitter soul with the mission of "self and only self" in all and of all.
Two thousand years ago, GOD the Creator of the universe, send His ONLY Son, JESUS CHRIST to take our hurt, brokenness, and strife and more than that to take the SINS of our "self and only self" and hence took Death upon Himself so that we don't have to. JESUS took upon Himself our sins so that we don't have to be hurt, broken and strifeful anymore and so that we can be at peace in our soul.
GOD did this to His sinless Son, put Him through unspeakable torture, humiliation, grief; the shame of our sins was upon Him; He was despised, rejected, stricken, smitten, afflicted, and oppressed for our misdeeds, He was mutilated for our offence, marred for our immorality, the rebuke against us fell on Him.

He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:3-5

GOD the Father made His ONLY Son suffer the weight of judgment which we should have deserved for our sins, and in turn we are cleansed from our sins, we are consoled, we are given beauty instead of ashes, oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of darkness, and we are made the righteousness of GOD.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3
